Access Statement for Esk Vale Guest House

Arrival and Entrance

• Front Entrance:

  • The entrance is accessed via two steps leading to the front door.

  • Please note that there are no handrails for these steps.

  • The front door is a split door, with each half narrower than a standard door.

  • To open the second door, latches at the top and bottom must be manually unfastened.

• Main Entrance Landing:

  • Upon entering the main door, there is a small landing area.

  • This is followed by six steps, which are fitted with a handrail, leading to another small landing.

  • The main internal door to the guesthouse requires either a key or for someone to open it from the inside.

  • A doorbell is located at this entrance.

Ground Floor Accessibility

• After entering the main door, there is one additional step leading to the ground floor of the guesthouse.

• The following areas are accessible on the ground floor:

  • Small single ensuite room

  • Two double ensuite rooms

  • Breakfast room

  • Private residence

First Floor and Beyond

• All other guest rooms are located on the upper floors and are accessible via stairs.

• Staircase to First Floor:

  • The staircase comprises 10 steps leading to a small landing, followed by a change in direction and an additional 7 steps to the first floor.

  • The stairs are slightly wider than standard stairs and are fitted with a handrail.

General Information

• Our guesthouse is not wheelchair accessible.

• Guests with limited mobility are kindly advised to carefully consider this access statement to ensure the suitability of their stay.
